About me:
Greetings!
First and foremost, I am elated to be here! I will serve as your quintessential educator, facilitator, and advocate. I have been teaching English language arts, Gifted, ESOL, and special education for over 12 years. I graduated from Cambridge College, which is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts with a master's degree in education. I have a second master's degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, and I earned my educational leadership endorsement (and principal's license) from the University of West Georgia. According to the state of Georgia Professional Standards Commission (and formerly the states of Tennessee & Massachusetts), I am highly qualified to teach high school English language arts, English as an official second language (ESOL & ELL), Gifted Education on all grade levels, and Special Education on all grade levels. I am a proud recipient of the National Dean's List Award, and I received a financial award from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for outstanding student academic growth and achievement in English language arts (two consecutive years).
Prior to becoming an educator, I served in the following career capacities: tax examiner for the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), mayoral appointee for the mayor of Memphis, Tennessee, real estate agent for Crye-Leike Realtors, and flight attendant for Delta Airlines. I absolutely loved all of them, but becoming an educator was a divine calling! Fast forward, I now live in Alpharetta, GA., and I consider the environment my utopia. In my spare time, I enjoy the simple things in life: reading a book, walking in the park, attending basketball games and track & field events, playing pool, watching a biographical film, biopic, or documentary, and supporting a "clean & tastefully crafted" comedy show. My former students would describe me as a serious teacher... fair, but firm. The vast majority return later in life to thank me for teaching them on a real-world, relevant, and rigorous level. Last, but certainly not least, it is imperative for me to create partnerships with all parents and guardians, so yes, I will provide two-way communication for them on day one.
In essence, I absolutely love parental engagement!
