British Literature & Composition
Ms. Gipson's British Literature & Composition Syllabus
This syllabus highlights "What Works" based on the research and curriculum development from The College of William & Mary Center for Education during the past 25 years, which adheres to the Integrated Curriculum Model. Advanced-reading-level literature will serve as the catalyst for learning, and students will emphasize the integration of higher order thinking processes, recommend solutions to real world issues, connect to the overarching theme of change, and create authentic products for a real audience. The students will reason through situations, think critically about the subject matter, analyze supporting details, textual evidence and word choice, synthesize information and debate with peers, provide critiques and develop advanced content skills in diverse English reading & writing genres. The ultimate goal is for each student to become academically prepared for college, a university,
a technical school, a career, or the military.
